Mental Health First Aid

What is Mental Health First Aid (MHFA): Someone you know could be experiencing a mental illness or crisis. YOU can help them. MHFA is an interactive 8-hour course that presents an overview of mental illness and disorders in the United States. It give you the knowledge and skills needed to provide initial help to someone who may be experiencing symptoms of a mental illness in crisis. See more of what you’ll learn below. MHFA is sponsored by the National Council on Behavioral Health.

When: Monday, August 26, 20198:00 am – 4:30 pm. This is an 8-hour training with a break for lunch.

Where: Placer County Office of Education Annex, Bud Nobili Conference Room, 365 Nevada St., Auburn, CA 95602

How Much: FREE  (Bring a sack lunch. Light snacks provided)

Registration Deadline: August 23, 2019

What you will learn:

  • Risk Factors and warning signs of mental health challenges
  • To understand the impact and common treatments of mental health challenges
  • The skills, resources and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate resources

Who should attend:

This course is appropriate for anyone 18 years and older who wants to learn how to provide initial help to someone who may be experiencing symptoms of a mental illness in crisis. 

Instructors:

This training will be taught by two certified MHFA instructors who have a passion for equipping members of the community to support those affected by mental illness.
